Slate's Ben Blatt writes an informative and entertaining article on why we should use caution when viewing viral maps - those ones that identify each state's favorite food, baby name, internet searches, etc. In the article he defends the maps as great ways of disseminating information and also points out ways the maps have been misused and misunderstood.
